Educated Fools: Just education will not change the world

We are an informed generation. Smartphone, internet, websites have enriched our lives with information. The ability to stare at a 5 inch glass screen and getting to know about what is going on in any corner of the world is astounding. Viral videos, social experiments, latest news will not change the world, whereas understanding them, questioning the motive behind them, transforming information to knowledge will enrich the world and make it a better place. Everywhere I go, I hear people say, “What can I do, all this is way beyond my power”. Saving water, saving electricity, speaking up to wrong just around you, these are things all of us can do. We do not need a revolution for this. One can as many social campaigns on YouTube or Facebook, like/up vote them share them, but it will still not change the world, unless we apply it in our lives. I would like to address instances of hypocrisy, disrespect to natural resources witnessed among educated individuals in our society: ...

India: My country tolerates the intolerance and yet is called Intolerant!

I am an Indian who is worried, angry, tensed and scared. My thoughts are probably insignificant, but I would still like to convey them. Why? Because, I live among common people, I have seen how people react, what people feel, and I want to reflect, my thoughts about all of what I witness on a daily basis. Constant bantering about intolerance in the country, constant battle between BJP and Congress, and never ending discussions on Hindu-Muslim tensions, has put me to shame. I am a liberal person, I believe in live and let live philosophy, I believe in development, progress, education and freedom. I am intolerant of the fact that we barely talk of things which are essential to our lives and rather waste our time watching sensationalized news and believe them without checking facts. I am intolerant of the fact that reservation has been ruining lives of hardworking students who miss out on an opportunity because someone less deserving gets it. The concept of reservation is being ...

The End!

There was darkness, then there was silence, he walked slowly towards the speck of light he could see at the end of the tunnel, his knees shaking, hands trembling, the knife in his hand was dry unlike his expectations. 7 days earlier: Both of them were getting back from their vacation in Bahamas, both of them loved the sea, and it was the perfect destination for their honeymoon. There was sea, sand and sex! Some would say they weren’t a perfect couple, but little did people know that they were like yin and yang, she was beautiful and he was the beast, he smiled less, talked less and was least to say an awkward person. She was bold, beautiful and ever smiling. It was an unusual match even for her but he was nothing like the other guys she had seen, he had confidence, chivalry and a calm which was surprising for a guy of his age. He kept looking at her in awe, still in shock of how he was able to convince a girl like her to even talk to him, but today they were together ...

I am back!

It has been a really long time, since I have felt like writing and today is one of those days. Last few months have been hard on me, for various reasons. Today I stand proud because I know when to give up on things which didn't work out for me. I have made mistakes and learned from them, done stupid things which I knew I would regret, because people like me learn things the hard way. It is a good as well as a bad thing, but then life is not all black and white, it is shades of grey. I am more in control of my emotions, my actions and my life. Sometimes you have to fall hard to stand back stronger, today I stand strong. Things have not changed much but now I am more controlled and more sensible. I remember a few months back I was crazy, and not in a good way, but the psycho way. I still follow my heart, do things I want to, go for things I deserve but all in a way that it does not hurt when they don't work out. Giving up and moving on in life is the biggest lesson I guess one c...

A TREK to Remember!

It all began when we wanted a weekend break which would rejuvenate our minds and make us believe that the world isn’t against us and we can have fun too. What we didn’t know was it was almost going to break our bones and make us miserable for the entire following week. Yet it all began with 2 of us who were so convinced with the entire itinerary of the trip that we believed it was made JUST for US! So when it came to roping in more people for the fun trip we assumed it to be, we were better than Rocket Singh “salesman of the year” and that’s when I wonder what if I was a sales guy! A staggering 13 people were a part of the legen… (Wait for it)...DARY trip to our very own, most beloved SANDHAN VALLEY! YES 13! Eventually after it all got over I was wondering who got fooled me or them! You know the time when you have planned about sitting under the sky, holding a glass of scotch (in our case rum) with some light music and a bunch of great people around you with laughter galore a...

Mistakes.....

Someone once told me, life is about learning from your mistakes. Its one thing to have an ideology but its entirely different if you don't learn the difference between being stubborn and being a slave to ideologies which lead you no where. I have grown up with that, I have made sure I make mistakes of my own. As life takes me to a new level at this stage of my life, I learn that being mature is one thing but being able to maintain that is another challenge. Thoughts mean a lot but actions can just ruin it all. One act of carelessness is all it takes to ruin what you stand for. But when you realize that and are able to comprehend it, that's when the actual challenge starts. It take a long time to prove that you are what you say but a second to break it down. It may have numerous reasons but when one can stand beyond that and yet be what one promised, is when the trust grows. Let’s say you may have been on the wrong side lately and all you want to do is hide yoursel...

The Silent Cry

He wants to run to a safe haven, he ran once before as a teenager. Life as a kid seemed terrible to him as the inhibitions were getting deep into his head. Had he gone forever, his life would have either ended or he would have broken all earthly ties. Today both of them sound and feel better. Life is an irony to him than a journey with hope. He lived life on his terms, made his own mistakes, fell in love, laughed and cried when he wanted. But today neither seems to be in his hands. The society has stolen his life away in a second, the dream he built and the life he imagined are all gone. Hope was his armour to fend himself from the society but today the armour is lost in the whirlpool of relations which make no sense to him. The claustrophobia the helplessness is back, the inhibitions are back to haunt him to prove it to him that he was wrong all the way, he has to accept defeat. Live the life of every other human being, make the same sacrifices. He thought he was different from ...

Will, Wish and Work!

It seems like yesterday when dreams were your life and all you could see was to do something which you would love. But today when you are en route it seems tediously painful with sorrow. Is the dream just a vision of attaining and not the journey?  The chase is so intense that we lose out on the small moments of hard work, realization, the commitment we put in, the support around us. Just the chase is enough and when we reach there and look back, nothing. It’s all gone, these moments are all gone and then the realization hits it was not the achievement it was the journey! The 3 Ws, are like fuel to humans without which a human is just like a appendicitis, useless!  The order may seem odd, as wish must come first then will and then work, but if you wish without the will to achieve it is no longer wish its just fantasy, thin line of difference. Will is like the ignition of a car, once that goes good we are set to embark on the journey of happiness and success. It's said so...

The Curious Case of Arvind Kejriwal

P.S: Make sure you have some gyaan on Indian Politics, and these are no accusations against esteemed Indian citizen Mr Arvind Kejriwal, these are personal opinions and no person is forced to read it. These are thoughts open to the world. The mystery starts with a mystery of two men falling out, with a lady who doesn’t know where to go but eventually relents with the known environment. So it all started with the word Dharna, which also rhymes with the word Anna, call it destiny. Now as far as I can remember the country was going all Jai ho types amidst chaos, where neither the people nor the government knew what was happening. Eventually when they all realised it turned out to be loss of money, time, energy and resources which could have been used by every individual to pay the fees of a child for an entire year. Now that seems less to work for isn’t it? Now Arvind Kejriwal’s life is like the water that flows where ever it is led to, a child handed a box full of candies and ask...

I fell in love. That day I decided I’ll go and tell dad. (Not the first time I feel in love but very soon I realised that there was another one I liked) I walked into his office, and he sent the others out of the room. “Shreyas tell, what happened?” “Dad I wanted to say something” I replied. “Yes go ahead” “Dad I am in love”, I said meekly. He smiled, “Who is the lucky girl?” I relaxed, “Her name is Ria and I love her” He smiled again; I think I even saw a twinkle in his eyes. “Can I know why you love her?” he asked. “Dad, she is beautiful, she is sweet and she is very nice” I answered. I don’t know how many of you would have had this conversation, but I did. This time he grinned, and said “good son am happy” “Are you not going to help me?” I asked. “I will son, first you have to go and tell her” he replied. I thought about it, and left. Within a month I knew, why he had said that. I did go and tell Ria, that I Loved her...
