The Little Girl

Feeling down and out I went for a walk, Totally irritated and too tired to talk. Reached a point where I had to pick the road ahead, Left was inviting but “right” is what my heart said. The less trodden and creepy it was with no cars, Only source of light were the stars. Just like my life I was in a dark road again, I scolded myself and kicked a stone down the drain. Just as I was about to turn around, A guy from no where called out and my heart began to pound. He walked to me and said, “Isn’t it a beautiful night?” I was irritated and I said “yea you are right.” He smiled and walked away, I walked ahead, frustrated with the happenings of the day.  With a shattered heart and a disturbed mind, Life was showing me the finger and I still didn’t know what to find. I walked ahead, and I cursed again, this time my shoe needed a mend, A girl of ten walked to me, she tucked at my pants and summoned me to bend. I lowered myself so that I could hear...

Child Labour

Knock knock knock Was the noise that broke my dream. Woke up to open the door and was about to scream. In front of me was a boy of ten, Giving me a toothy smile unlike the cruel men. Dressed in a uniform with a bucket in his hand, Waiting to clean my toilet, with the brush as his magical wand. Surprised was I, staring at him in his eye. His innocence and his desperation touched my heart. Thinking what could be the reason, I sent him away like a dart. Didn’t want to encourage him and give him cash, His employee was the one whom I had to thrash. Independence Day was the occasion, And child labour was in operation. What freedom what democracy? Everybody seemed totally messy. When will be the end to a crime like this, Where, innocent kids give their education a miss. I hope my message is clear, child labour is what I fear. Looking at kids toil day and night, Hope I free them with my might.

Just to be with you

A million miles and a lifetime is all I can offer, No big bucks or a private chopper. Just you and me with understanding and hope, In a small home at the mountain slope. A connection which I could never define, And how much I wish you were mine. It’s just a matter of time that the dream will shatter, What I really have for you may not even matter. But to me I’ve lived a lifetime, Just getting to know you was sublime. Every single day starts with the zeal to make you smile. Every single second that I spend with you is totally worthwhile. The way you smile and laugh, makes my day, The moment you are sad, “I am there for you” is all I can say. Don’t want to put you in any trouble for what I feel, It’s too hard to break; our relationship is made of steel. To be with you all my life and fill it with love and care, Is all I have, me saying all this is really rare. My heart beat is as fast as our friendship grew,  My only wish is, just to b...

Triumphant Colours of India

A million stories have been told, Yet millions remain untold. Magnificent is the past of our glorious nation, Immense wealth and colourful culture caught the world’s fascination. A home to the strongest men, and intelligent mind, A rare symphony one can ever find. ‘The Golden Bird’ has always been kind, Welcomed all like its own child. A Hindu queen finds a brother in a Muslim emperor, Love and relationships are always in our prayer. On the other hand a widow queen fought for her land, Picked up the sword and showed where women stand. Such are colours of triumphant India, Where women can pick up the sword and still put on the ‘Bindiyaa’ Fought for our freedom, to regain the past glory, Freedom fighters were the reason behind the success story. Had no weapons and had no army, Non-violence and Satyagraha were enough for the enemy. A medley of religions dancing to the unities tunes, We ...
